Bauchi Gov sends names of ex-SSG, others to Assembly as commissioner-nominees

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has sent names of 17 persons to the state House of Assembly as commissioner-nominees for confirmation.

The governor had on 9th June 2021 sacked the State Executive Council (SEC), including the Secretary to the State Government; Chief of Staff; all commissioners, all Special Advisers, except the Special Adviser Security; Special Adviser National and State Assembly Liaison; Special Adviser Social Investment and Special Adviser Media and Publicity.

The governor had at an event to mark this year’s Democracy Day in Zaki on 12th June 2021 disclosed that he dissolved the SEC to allow others to serve and move the state forward.

Mohammed said those sacked did not know how to play politics, adding that he had to bring in real politicians who could do the job and join hands with him to bring the state out of the deadlock.

In a letter sent to the Assembly, addressed to the Speaker, Right Honourable Abubakar Y Suleiman, which was read at plenary on Tuesday, Governor Mohammed sought the confirmation of the nominees as commissioners.

BBNAIJA ONLINE” reports that of the 17 nominees, 13 were members of the dissolved cabinet, while four persons, including Aminu Hammayo, who served as SSG under the administration of former governor Isa Yuguda.

The three other new nominees are Dayyabu Chiroma; Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu and Umar Babayo Kesa.

The nominees whose names were read by the speaker include; Abdulkadir Ibrahim from Alkaleri Local Government Area; Garba Dahiru and Nuruddeen Abdulhamid from Bauchi LGA; Ahmed Aliyu Jalam (Dambam LGA); Dayyabu Chiroma (Darazo LGA); Maryam Garba Bagel (Dass LGA); Umar Babayo Kesa (Gamawa LGA) and Asma’u Ahmed (Giade LGA).

Also on the nominees’ list are Usman Abdulkadir Middibo (Jama’are LGA); Hajara Jibrin Gidado (Itas – Gadau LGA); Sama’ila Dahuwa Kaila (Katagum LGA); Aminu Hammayo (Misau LGA) Hamisu Muazu Shira (Shira LGA); Sama’ila Burga and Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu (Tafawa Balewa LGA); Aliyu Usman Tilde (Toro LGA) and Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki (Warji LGA).
