Federal govt tasks states on national policy on medical oxygen

The Federal Government has tasked State Governments to domesticate the national policy on medical oxygen in health facilities.

Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire made the call at a stakeholders consultative workshop for the adoption of national policy on medical Oxygen in health facilities in Dutse, Jigawa State.

The minister who was represented by the Oxygen desk officer, Department of Hospital Services, Ministry of Health, Mr. Bishara Emanuel Bennett, said the federal government attaches much importance to the policy aimed at improving the quality of services in the country.

Dr Osagie maintained that the adoption and implementation of the policy will help in providing solutions to most of the medical challenges in both the federal and states health facilities.

“Adopting the policy in our health facilities will help in addressing most of the respiratory complications especially the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic and the major children killer disease pneumonia,”he said.

He, however, commended Jigawa State as the first in the country to make efforts to domesticate the policy in its health facilities.
