Guard against sensationalizing your report – Niger CP to journalists

The Commissioner of Police Niger State command, CP Monday Bala Kuryas has urged journalists not to sensationalize their report.

Kuryas stated this during a courtesy visit by the leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Niger State Council at the police headquarters in Minna.

CP Kuryas explained that as the watchdog of the society, journalists must at all times guard against report that could further creat more challenges to the state.

“Journalists have a critical role to play towards ensuring balanced reporting aimed at promoting corporate existence of the people,” he stated.

He also assured of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s commitment to the police command to ensure that insecurity in the state was reduced to the bearest minimum.

The commissioner then assured the Union of the Command’s unflinching support at times.

Earlier, the Chairman of the State Council of NUJ, Comr. Abu Nmodu informed the Police Commissioner that the aim of the visit was to cement the already existing cordial relationship between the police and the media.

He also said the Council under his leadership was working on inaugurating a Committee on Interface with the police to strengthen intelligence gathering with a view to boosting smooth relationship between the police and the media.
