Igbo political elite truncating self-determination struggle – Group

The Igbo National Council (INC) worldwide, a sociopolitical organization in the Southeast, has called out the political elite over secessionist agitations across the region.

The group accused the Igbo political elite of sabotaging the self-determination struggles of the region, urging them to think twice as the day of reckoning may soon befall them.

The INC called on Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State to order the immediate stop of the clandestine raids and arrest of Igbo youths in the state and also order the immediate release from detention of all the Igbo youths arrested in relation with membership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

In a statement signed by its President, Chilos Godsent, and issued to journalists in Umuahia, Abia State capital, on Wednesday, the INC accused the Uzodinma-led Imo government of aiding the arbitrary arrest and reckless abandonment in security custody without fair hearing.

The sociopolitical group lamented that it had received reports that many of the abducted Igbo youths were being extra-judicially murdered in cold blood in different detention cells in Imo without the knowledge of their parents and their corpses thrown away.

“We have also observed that the security operatives has continue to tag these youths been abducted as members of the IPOB /ESN without any cogent or verifiable prove

“We note that this Neo Mafia Gestapo Style of abduction of Igbo Youths by Security Operatives in Imo State is part of the Jihadist agenda to exterminate and depopulate the Igbo people through false accusations.

“The INC is very disappointed in the government of Imo State for their alliance with the enemies of Igbo Race to destroy the Igbo nation,” it concluded.
