Kano, most tolerant state in Nigeria – Assembly Speaker, Chidari

The Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Engr. Hamisu Chidari, has said that the state is the most tolerant and peaceful which accommodates every ethnic nationalities without recourse to where you come from.

Chidari, who was speaking while receiving members of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council who paid a courtesy visit to the House today, said Nigerians must copy from Kano patience, tolerance, maturity and the habit of accommodating others.

He said that tolerance and understanding among Individuals and corporate entities are among the top priority of the State Government which placed the state ahead of others in terms of peaceful coexistence.

Chidari further said that such understanding remains a key point that attracts people to Kano from different walks of life.

He said the issue of religion is very important and must be taken with all seriousness. He commended the council for its magnificent role in making peace and understanding among Nigerians from across diverse cultures and religions in the nation

He assured them that the House will support the activities of the council for peaceful understanding at all the times

Speaking, the Executive Secretary, Professor Cornelius Afebu Omonokhua, said they were at the House to seek cooperation, describing Kano as one of the most tolerant states.

The Executive Secretary also condemned the killing of innocent citizens recently in Plateau State by some criminals which he said is uncalled for in a time that both Federal and States are advocating for peaceful understanding and tolerance to keep the nation one indivisible entity.

He assured the people of the state that the NIREC will do all it can towards promoting peace, understanding and maturity for development.
