Minister, new Police Commissioner to partner on security in FCT

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello said his administration would support the newly posted Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday in the task of ridding FCT of criminal elements.

The new CP on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the Minister where he officially informed him of development within the FCT.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Honourable Minister, Mr Anthony Ogunleye, the Minister while congratulated the CP, believed that the Police boss possessed the capacity to tackle insecurity challenges in the territory.

The Minister congratulated the new CP and expressed delight on his appointment saying that Mr Babaji possessed the relevant professional qualifications having served as a Deputy Commissioner in charge of operations in the FCT in addition to other important positions across several state police commands in the country.

Bello urged Mr Babaji to work closely with the heads of the other security agencies in the FCT as was done by his predecessor, AIG Bala Ciroma.

He assured the CP of providing operational vehicles that would assist FCT Command to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently, adding that they should widen their operations to satellite towns within the FCT.

Earlier, the new Commissioner of Police said he intended to build on the legacies of his predecessor in fighting crime in the FCT which he described as the seat of the Nigerian government and therefore a very sensitive state.

While assuring residents of the FCT on the provision of good quality police service, he equally called for their cooperation, urging them to provide the police with information on suspicious individuals and situations.
