Security agencies need personnel, equipment to combat insurgents – Tambuwal

Governor Aminu Tambuwal has suggested that equipment, personnel and joint decisive efforts are needed by security forces in order to tackle the security issues in the region.

The governor, who made the observation when he received the new General Commanding Officer, GOC, of the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army in Sokoto, Major General Uwem Bassey, enjoined the Chief of Army Staff to come to the rescue of the state that needs urgent intervention as bandits’ attacks are becoming alarming in the state.

He assured the new GOC of his administration’s sustained and improved collaboration with the Army and other security agencies, explaining that plans are underway to tackle the problem.

Responding, Gen. Bassey noted that the support of every citizen of the state is required in order to maintain peace.

He hailed Governor Tambuwal for convening the security summit held with all stakeholders in the state.

Gen. Bassey assured that the Nigerian Army would do its work effectively and professionally to enable the people of the Eastern zone of the state plagued by bandits’ attacks to go about their normal businesses without any hindrance.
