Senate PDP minority caucus mourns Mantu

The minority caucus of the People Democratic Party (PDP) of the Senate has described as shocking the sudden death of the former Deputy Senate President, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu, in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja.

In a statement issued and made available to BBNAIJA ONLINE” in Abuja by the Minority leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, said the death has robbed the country of a consummate democrat and patriot.

The caucus grieved the more that Mantu died when his wealth of experience was needed by the nation, while they recalled that he pioneered the reengineering process of the Nigerian parliament in this republic.

“Recall that Senator Mantu was a two-time Deputy President of the Senate in the early days of the current republic shortly after the Military returned to the barracks. It was no doubt a teething period and Senator Mantu with others worked assiduously to steer the National Assembly to safe anchorage today”, Senator Abaribe said.

The statement noted that Mantu was a political asset to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, and a committed member, stating that it was regrettable, he died now that the country and the party in particular need his wise counselling.

Nonetheless, the Caucus said the party, the National Assembly and the country will sorely miss him and accordingly condoled with his family and government and people of Plateau State.
