Yelwan massacre: Buhari government has abandoned Plateau – Senator Gyang

Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial district, Instifanus Gyang has described Tuesday’s invasion of Yelwan Zangam in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State as a ‘night of terror’.

He said the State has been abandoned by the Buhari-led government.

Yelwan Zangam community came under bandits’ attack on Tuesday leading to the massacre of 35 persons, some of whom were burnt beyond recognition.

The lawmaker in the upper legislative Chambers expressed anger over endless and the seemingly helpless terror attacks on communities in Plateau State with thousands of lives brutally massacred over the years and still continuing.

In a statement he made available to BBNAIJA ONLINE”, he said: “The situation on the Plateau is that of a people abandoned to their fate by the Federal Government.

“No sympathy! No empathy! No attention nor relief to affected communities! No statement and outcry from ‘appropriate quarters’ on the latest massacre at Yelwan Zangam, Jos.”

He noted that no life should be taken away on the basis of ethnicity or religion, while he further expressed rage that people in the rural areas have been subject of attacks.

Gyang called on government to demonstrate sincerity in securing lives of all citizens, Plateau people inclusive, and take all necessary and decisive action to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators.
